Skichalet Alpenstern

In Kaprun town centre. Close to the lively après-ski, ski hire shop and ski school. The slopes and ski lifts are just a 4-minute walk away (450 metres). The free ski shuttle bus stops outside the chalet and can bring you also to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Make the most of the fantastic sauna, great for easing those tired muscles. All six spacious bedrooms have their own full bathroom with shower or bath, WC, basin and most have a sunny south facing balcony with stunning views on the Großglockner and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. The spacious chalet has a living room with comfy seating, a flatscreen TV and is flooded with natural light. The large glass doors lead out onto the south-facing terrace and winter garden where children can play safely in the snow. There are also two living and dining rooms and are a great example of an Alpine chalet with plenty of character. With the multiple living and dining rooms, Alpenstern really is your home from home. Ideal for both families and friends. Its huge amount of space lends itself perfectly to spending time with your loved ones, or hiding yourself away with a good book. Its terrace, garden and sauna allow you to marvel at the mountains even after you’ve kicked off your skis. A preferred chalet for many of our returning guests. At the end of the day store your skis in the heated ski and boot room. Park your car for free at the chalet. Your chalet staff live out, so your privacy is completely guaranteed.

Kaprun

Blessed with one of the most spectacular backdrops in Austria with the stunning Kitzsteinhorn glacier guaranteeing snow, Kaprun is a charmingly picturesque village, dominated by its little elevated church. Nearby Zell am See, a free ski-bus ride away, is a larger town, with some excellent shopping to add to the area’s attractions. The pretty and traditional Austrian village stands against the dramatic backdrop of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, where you’ll find high altitude skiing and guaranteed snow easily accessible by regular ski buses. The Maiskogel ski area in the resort centre is the place for beginners and intermediates and a days skiing in nearby Zell am See should not be missed. At the heart of the resort is a fantastic sports centre, shops, bars, many with regular live music, and several types of speciality restaurants. It is an excellent location for all ages and facilities. Kaprun has en enticing variety of après-ski options, with plenty of bars, both traditional and modern, and a host of activities, spearheaded by the superb Tauern Spa. There is also dancing at several venues in the village, plus sleigh-rides and other options laid on by your representative.

Kaprun - Zell am See

The guaranteed snow at 3000m and spectacular scenery of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier are the big attractions of Kaprun, accessed by the high-speed 24-person ‘Gletscherjet’ gondola. Also covered on the lift pass are two further areas directly beside Kaprun village, the Lechnerberg and Maiskogel slopes as well as nearby Zell am See. There is, thus, plenty of variety for all grades of skier, both above and below the tree-line. The ski bus is also free with your lift-pass, the glacier in one direction and Zell am See in the other are each 10 minutes’ ride. Good quality snow makes learning so much easier, and this is where Kaprun excels. There are plenty of wide open, smoothly groomed blue runs on which to make your first turns, and the ski-school has an excellent reputation for helping first-timers make swift progress. Between them, Kaprun and Zell am See offer everything from fast, wide, cruising blues, best of all on the glacier, to fun tree-lined reds. This is also a wonderful resort for those who love to enjoy the scenery en route, whether from 3000m up on the glacier, or the view of 200 peaks from the top of Zell am See. Skiers will love the superb glacier bowl on the Kitzsteinhorn, with its wonderful powder and wide open pistes. There are plenty of moguls and seven enteraining black runs across this ski area to challenge more adventurous skiers. Between November and April, the five-year average snowfall on the Kitzsteinhorn is a staggering 11 metres. As a result, there are incredible powder days to be enjoyed on a regular basis right throughout the season, all amongst spectacularly beautiful scenery. Pro snowboard teams gather here for World Cup competitions on this glacier. All the features noted above will please boarders too, such as guaranteed snow, frequent powder, great cruising runs and plenty of variety.
