Your chalet holiday

Your own chalet with the comfort of a hotel

Our company Cateredskichalets.com has been operating in the Alps since 1993. No wonder we are regarded as the best operators in Europe and we are proud to be considered the Chalet Specialists.
Your own chalet with the service level of a hotel is an unique holiday formula. This style of ski holiday is a so called catered chalet. A welcome addition to the ski holiday market and certainly at a time when everyone is taking care of holiday expenses. So, no more expensive hotels, just homely ski chalets at extremely affordable prices in which you experience the same comfort as a hotel with an excellent half board service and English speaking cooks. ‘Affordable luxury' with prices from € 325,- per person per week on a half board basis. Because luxury shouldn't cost you more!

  • Catered ski chalets are a whole lot easier than self-catering
  • Much more informal and relaxing than a hotel
  • English speaking chalet staff for catering and housekeeping
  • Book a chalet as a group or individually per room
  • Due to the dramatic plunge in the Euro/£ exchange rate, our prices are low compared to British companies, and not because we are Dutch...

Catered ski chalet service includes:

  • Seven nights chalet accommodation
  • Hearty breakfast with a cooked option each morning
  • Afternoon tea with freshly-baked homemade treats
  • You will be welcomed with champagne
  • Satisfying, home-cooked three course dinner six evenings a week served with complimentary wine (wine included in the chalets where you eat at home) and coffee to follow the dinner. On the evening of the chalet staff's day off, no dinner is served which gives you the opportunity to eat at one of the resorts restaurants.
  • Unlimited coffee and tea
  • Housekeeping and all cleaning services
  • Towels and bed linen
  • Free Wifi internet access
  • Services of an English speaking chalet staff

While you're out skiing our chalet staff will prepare you a delicious three course dinner...

The British chalet holiday party concept began in the late seventies. A cosy informal home away from home, rather than a stuffy hotel, where the staff are all informative hosts rather than servants, it has proved extremely popular with Brits over the years. Nowadays in more European countries.

Ski chalet holidays are a skiing institution, offering a real 'home-from-home' atmosphere without the cooking, tidying up or cleaning! Cosy, comfortable, relaxed surroundings and delicious home-cooked cuisine washed down with complimentary wine ensures many would not choose anything else. Our catered ski chalets, run by trained chalet staff, vary greatly in size and style.

Chalet charm... more fun than a hotel, easier than self-catering and better value than both, a chalet offers all the advantages of holidaying at your own home but without any of the housework. The service is more informal than in local hotels so you can sit back and relax in the unique chalet atmosphere. The friendly camaraderie of a chalet makes a holiday with friends relaxed, convivial and stress-free, and it is here that CateredSkiChalets.com knowledge, experience since 1993 and attention to detail really come to the fore. We give you a comfortable 'home from home', informal and relaxed holiday, with great food and service.

A successful catered chalet holiday is determined by good company, a relaxed atmosphere and ample portions of imaginative dishes and local wines. One of the real bonuses of going on a catered chalet holiday is that you have all the cosiness of your own home in the Alps but you don't need to do the cooking and housekeeping! Warm your toes by a crackling fire, sip a hot cup of tea and share stories of your day's adventures while your meal is prepared for you.
Many people have no idea how a catered ski chalet holiday works. Essentially it should be a relaxed, enjoyable holiday, less formal than staying in a hotel, and certainly a lot less demanding than self catering arrangements. Our chalet staff run the chalets and as well as keeping everything clean and tidy, they are responsible for providing an extensive catering service: breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner.

Catered chalet holidays are all about great skiing, good food and great company. We aim to provide holidays where you are cared for and able to forget all the household chores, where you can relax secure in the knowledge that we will look after everything for you.

Whilst the atmosphere is relaxed and informal like home, we like to think that you will treat the chalet as your home for the duration of your holiday and you can certainly bring books, games, CD's, DVD's, iPod docking stations and board games.

Our guests tell us that our chalets are perfect for parties of friends or families taking the whole place, singles who want to mix with other guests in a relaxed atmosphere, or couples looking for a sociable holiday.

We feel that a relaxed and informal atmosphere combined with a high standard of accommodation and cuisine are the most important elements of a chalet holiday.

You will find a warm welcome in all of our catered chalets. You're probably thinking about booking a chalet holiday because it's so much friendlier than a hotel. We make every effort to ensure our chalets are welcoming and cosy, with a personal style of service we don't think is possible in chalet hotel, when you're sharing your dinner table with 99 other people.

A chalet skiing holiday is ideal for families, providing a safe, homely atmosphere where the children can play and the parents relax. We accept children of all ages in our chalets. We provide as many facilities and services we can in our chalets to make things easier for parents including:

  • Early dinners and special menus on request
  • Cots and highchairs on request
  • Use of a fridge for food storage and equipment for heating formula and baby food

So many chalet holidays, so little time to choose. We know how hard it is to research chalet holidays when you're busy. So let our office team do the work. They know the chalets and resorts just as well as our overseas staff, which means that they are able to listen to your individual needs, and match them with our available chalets.

We believe that good service and flexibility set us apart from most other operators and our success in this field has seen many guests return year after year. We endeavour to treat all of our guests as individuals, and with an excellent ratio of staff to guests, you are sure to appreciate the personal touch.

Great food in a cosy relaxed & convivial atmosphere

One of the main reasons for booking a CateredSkiChalets.com chalet is the fact that you don't have to do any of the cooking, just leave it all up to us! When you get back from a hard day on the slopes you will be met with tea/coffee and a freshly baked cake to boot! All of our chalets serve up a three course evening meal of good wholesome home-cooking, perfect to replenish all of the energy you spent out on the mountain.

Eating and drinking are probably not the most important things on your ski holiday. Good snow, fine weather, comfy boots, great company, these are what will make or break the trip. But food is essential with us. It is the one thing we control totally. Most guests wouldn't blame us if it snowed every day, but if dinner weren't the perfect end to a good day, they wouldn't come again.

When it comes to food and wine, pride and passion are the words that spring to mind when describing this most important element of the catered chalet holiday. Our dedicated chalet staff spend many long hours refining our winter menus ensuring that we deliver an high standard of cuisine during your stay.

We've been perfecting our chalet experience for years and we like to think we've got it just right for people like you.

A big breakfast sets you up for a great day on the slopes. Start the day with a light or substantial breakfast with a choice of cereals, fruit and juices, yoghurts, plentiful tea and good filter coffee, bread from the famous local bakery (plus croissants or 'pains au chocolat' in France), toasts, cold meats, cheeses and preserves, and boiled eggs. This is normally presented buffet-style for you to help yourself. Unlike most other chalet companies who leave you to look after yourselves on staff day off, our chalet staff are on hand to help clear away breakfast and lay out afternoon tea.

Whatever, it was a great day and it's not over yet. Shake the last of the snow off and step into your home away from home, a place you can enjoy as much as the slopes. When you get back from the slopes, you will be coming home to an afternoon tea of home-baked cake or biscuits with fresh bread and preserves to keep hungry skiers happy until dinner is ready. Hot chocolate, coffee or tea will also be available to warm you through. For younger children we can provide high tea, allowing children to get settled after the excitement of the day, giving parents the opportunity to enjoy the evening in a calm and care-free environment. We will consult you on menus for the children. For infants and younger children too small for normally family meals we do ask parents to either bring  the necessary baby food.

What better than a dinner party when there is no preparation or washing up! The highlight of every day must be the delicious, innovative and freshly cooked three-course candlelight dinner prepared and served by your chalet staff six evenings a week accompanied by limited local house wines, with coffee and tea to finish.

Linen, towels and bath mats are all provided, and our chalet staff will change bath towels for you in the middle of the week.

And no shopping or washing up either! Bliss. Our chalet staff are not only chosen for their culinary skills, they are also the most up to date source of local knowledge, and are well-equipped to field questions on where to find the latest gadgets, the nicest terraces to catch the sun, or the best runs on the mountain. Catered chalet holiday expensive? Definitely no way!

Well a catered ski holiday is what you need. Ski chalet accommodation has been around for a long time, but only in the recent years people are starting to see the benefits of a catered ski chalet holiday. You may think that your holiday is expensive but wait to see the advantages. Once you arrive at chalet your will be treated to a warm drink while your host will place your bags in your rooms. Not a bad start to your holiday. You will find with most ski chalet holidays that on arrival your ski pass will be ready for you so you can begin the next day skiing with not a worry about waiting in long queues and wasting valuable ski time. If you have not filled in a booking form before your holiday, the chalet staff may ask you for details if you require ski hire, height, foot size etc. and ski lessons. This is well worth filling in as your ski hire will be ready and waiting for you at the ski shop and lessons will be pre booked, no need to worry about ski schools being booked up.

How easy is this, wait it gets better!! In the morning you will awake to a continental breakfast, after breakfast you will be ready for a days skiing. If you are a beginner to the resort than don't worry many chalet staff offer a ski guiding service. This normally consists of being shown the best places to ski and great mountain restaurants. After a days skiing you will be met by your chalet staff who will then take you for some après ski drinks and then back to the chalet for your dinner. If you have small children the chalet staff will normally arrange a nursery for you so you need not worry.

Pleasant, comfortable & cosy chalets

Our chalets come in all shapes and sizes each with a unique personality and style of its own. The chalets are often family homes and vary from picturesque chocolate box mountain retreats to purpose-built chalets. Many enjoy prime ski-in/out locations and others are close to the slopes. Our chalets are not intended to feel like hotels. Instead of dozens of rooms, all identical, you'll find just a few, often quite varied. We have stayed in most of our chalets ourselves, and would not be offering them to you if we hadn't enjoyed them greatly.

Discover your ski area with your own ski guide

Where shall we go today? If you're one of those people who always seem to be put in charge of the piste map, let guides show you the best runs, softest snow and speediest lifts in the area instead. The guiding trips are a great way to mingle with other guests. Guiding isn't a replacement for ski lessons though skiing with guides is intended as a sociable way to spend the day and is aimed at confident red run skiers and above. We will help you to get the best out of the mountains.

Example price: € 100 for 3 days.

Chalet massage

After a long-day on the slopes, treat yourself to a relaxing massage in the privacy of your own chalet. Whether it is to relieve the stresses of work or to get tired legs ready for the next day a visit from one of the experienced therapists could be just what you need. In various ski resorts we can offer a wide variety of treatments like Swedish massage, reflexology, stone therapy, aroma therapy, sports massage, deep tissue massage and Indian head therapy. Everyone deserves a little pampering and "tlc" on their holiday...

Example price: € 40 for 30 minutes.

Chalet physiotherapy

In several French ski resorts you can book physiotherapy by a fully qualified British physiotherapist for visiting you in your chalet. All of the physiotherapists are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP), French registered and fully insured to treat you in the clinics or your chalet. Our aim is to provide you with an excellent, professional service, backed with strong clinical evidence to diagnose your problem quickly, and provide the appropriate treatment to keep you on the slopes. In the event that this is not possible, we can liaise with the doctors in resort and if needed help you find the right care for when you return home.

Example price: € 60 for 30 minutes.

Chalet nanny service - Child care service

Chalet Nanny Service
In various French ski resorts we can provide private nannies on an hourly basis. All our nannies speak English, are over 25 and have at least 5 years child care experience. They are fully insured to care for your children inside your accommodation and also out and about in the resort.

Your nanny will come to your chalet, or can meet you wherever you are in the resort and take the children back to your accommodation for you. We take bookings by the hour, day or evening. The nanny will provide you with a diary card for each child which details what they have eaten, any nappy changes, timing of naps and any other information that you may find useful. It will also give you details of what your children have been up to.

Activities include:

  • Making a thank you card for parents or chalet hosts
  • Making edible pictures or carrot and cucumber flowers
  • Building snowmen or igloos in the snow
  • Hide and seek
  • Making travel tickets (this is to cut down on 'are we there yet' questions - your child will give you tickets at intervals on your journey home)
  • Writing a holiday diary
  • Practising walking in ski boots and /or skis
  • Making play dough
  • Planning surprises for mummies and daddies (but you'll have to wait and see what these are!)

Nannies arrive armed with a 'nanny action pack' which includes all the equipment needed for these kinds of activities. If you would like your nanny to take children ice skating, for a pony ride or any other paid for activity just give them some Euros in advance and they'll give you receipts with the change at the end of the placement. Similarly your nanny will make the children's meals, but you'll either provide the ingredients, a float so they can shop, or check in advance with your chalet host what ingredients the nanny is free to use.

We have male and female nannies available, and will take some information about your requirements when you contact us, so that we can match you with the most suitable nanny for your family.

Child Care Service

For various French ski resorts several British run companies offering first class crèche facilities and private nannies for children aged from three months upwards. Whatever your childcare requirements, please contact us for more information.
