Chalet Ruhestein has a great location near the piste, at the end of the day you can take off your skies in front of the door, can't be easier! The slope to the valley is only 500 metres away, reachable with a short walk or take the free ski bus which stops in front of the chalet. You will ski directly to the gondola lift. So the chalet Ruhestein is the ideal choice for those wanting very easy and convenient access to the skiing and ideal for couples and families looking to enjoy the ambience of an attractive traditional Austrian guesthouse in an idyllic location. In reality the chalet is more spacious than it looks like on the photos. It is a typical Austrian chalet, so with a large living and spacious bedrooms. This typical Austrian chalet is set in a location with spectacular views from the large balconies all over the village and the Paznaun valley. The cosy sitting room has a large flatscreen TV and DVD/CD player, a sunny terrace, an 'Kachelofen' where you can enjoy your chalet host's home-made cake with hot chocolate on your return after a good day's skiing. Recently a brand new bedroom is added to this chalet with shower, WC, hand basin and TV. The local bus stop is just outside your chalet which will take you directly to central Ischgl. A short stroll away is the famous Hotel Restaurant Edelweiß-Schlössl where your excellent dinner will be served, which is beautifully furnished in a traditional Tyrolean style.

Every morning an extensive breakfast. When you go skiing the chalet staff will clear the table and taking care of the housekeeping. After skiing there is a hearty or sweet afternoon tea and in the evening you have a delicious three course dinner in a nearby restaurant.

Ski area Kappl/Ischgl

The village

The picturesque village of Kappl lies in an idyllic, dreamy landscape in the Paznaun valley. The village enjoys the rays of the sun from morning to sundown getting out and about just couldn't be more enjoyable. The village has been spared the usual fleet of hotels you would expect to find in a holiday resort and has remained true to nature in every way. Kappl is home to a varied selection of bars and restaurants. The fashionable alpine village of Ischgl is the neighbouring village of Kappl and is linked on piste across the Swiss frontier to the duty-free village of Samnaun. The après ski and nightlife in Ischgl is equally legendary and starts on the mountain and continues from 4pm in the many bars and cafés in the main village pedestrian area. The music rocks, and the Schatzi, Romantic Hütt'n and Niki's Stadl are some of the liveliest après bars in the Alps. The atmosphere is dynamic and very good humoured, and you can party on after dinner in pubs, cocktail bars, or one of the numerous nightclubs - the Trofana Arena is renowned for energetic dancing to one of their regular visiting live bands. Every winter the resort holds open-air pop concerts featuring big name stars. Previous performers include Alicea Keys, Kylie Minogue, Pink, Enrique Iglesias, Elton John, Sugarbabes and Sting. At heart a traditional Austrian village, Ischgl has also embraced modernity, and is justifiably proud of its state-of the-art lifts, avant-garde architecture and dynamic and energetic night-life. With so much going on, small wonder the resort's motto is 'Relax. If you can...!'

The ski area

Kappl is a paradise for all skiers and snowboarders. Because of its altitude (up to 2700m) and its sunny location Kappl is a dream for every skier; also free riders will find everything they are looking for. Have fun skiing without queuing, family-friendly, a great variety, and last but not least budget-priced, that are only a few of the advantages of this ski resort. The wide slopes (more than 40km) offer something for everybody, whether you are a beginner or an expert. Because of its high altitude Kappl is among the few ski resorts with snow security. If you want more Ischgl is close by with the Silvretta Ski Arena with 53 lifts and 235 kilometres of piste. It is one of Austria's largest and most picturesque ski areas. Lifts extend up to and over the ridge which forms the territorial frontier with Switzerland. However, whenever the day dawns bright and sunny it seems that almost everyone in the resort heads over to Samnaun to indulge in a Swiss mountain lunch and fill their rucksacks with duty-free cigarettes, drink, perfume, and electrical goods at supposedly bargain prices. Ischgl prides itself on offering the perfect mix of superb, extensive skiing and lively après ski entertainment, and has the longest winter season in Austria, opening at the end of November with skiing right up until May!
